Pc game review the silent age5/31/2023 ![]() Also from-the-ground-up remakes tend to give me pause, as they typically end up being a different beast entirely when compared to the original game. If a newer version radically changes the gameplay or contains major censorship, that’s a big negative for me. Of course, I do have exceptions to these rules. ![]() When talking about older games, this usually means it has been remastered for HD resolutions or has improved textures, etc. Second, I always try for the most technically advanced version of the game possible. If a game was launched on one platform, but then later re-released on another system with an extra level or some special DLC, I typically go for the release with the most content. When I say “best”, I mean a few different things. Whenever I play through a game for my reviews, I always try to make sure I select the “best” version of the game in question. This is something I will provide more details on at a later date. This is something that I’ve always wanted to do and it was an absolute blast! I enjoyed it so much that I plan on doing this for other reviews in the future. I streamed the entire playthrough on Twitch. When I sat down to play through this game, I decided to do something a little different. Ever since I completed the first Silent Hill game (almost six years ago) I’ve been eager to get my hands on the sequel so that I could see what all the fuss was about. But this particular chapter in the series is often considered to be one of the greatest games of all time. As most of my readers will know, the Silent Hill series is held in high regard among gamers. My backlog has finally brought me to a game that is nothing short of legendary. To get to the heart of the mystery, you’ll have to wait for the next one, and it will probably cost you.Today is a special day. Why would the developers do that? Simple-this is only the first episode. The Silent Age is completely free with no ads and no in-app purchases on Google Play (Opens in a new window). This is one of those games that recommends headphones when you start playing, and it might actually be worth listening this time. ![]() The audio is geared toward immersing you in the environments. It’s all simple shapes and solid colors without too much detail. The gameplay is as good as any point-and-click game on a mobile device. Joe has to travel between his present and the future to solve the mystery and save everyone that will ever exist. If you’ve ever played the classic adventure game Out of this World, The Silent Age has a very similar vibe. The Silent Age proceeds at a leisurely pace. It’s a completely intuitive control scheme that lets you concentrate on the problem solving skills you’ll have to employ. To activate them, just tap on the item, then on the area you want Joe to use it. The world is full of little knick knacks and bobbles to drop in your inventory. Sometimes it will work, and other times you need the right item. Joe will walk wherever you want, and if there’s an object to interact with, he’ll attempt to use it. You can maneuver around the 2D world by tapping on any area. What follows is a deviously good story full of time-hopping and puzzels. 40 years in the future (in our present), all of humanity is extinct and Joe will have to prevent that from happening. Before the man kicks it, he gives Joe a time travel device, and tells him about the future. It’s a regular day when Joe happens upon a dying man in the high-security sub-basement labs. But there are big things in store for Joe in this point-and-click adventure game. You are Joe, a simple janitorial worker in 1972 who goes about his business cleaning up a weird laboratory where some suspicious stuff is going on. There aren’t many games where playing the role of a janitor is the path to mystery and intrigue, but that’s just what happens in The SIlent Age.
